A typical recipe from Curacao? Raise your glass!
We were searching for the recipe famous for this tiny caribbean island. Is there anything so typical for Curacao? Yes, of course there is! And the good news is, that you don’t have to cook at all 🙂 .
Blue Curacao liqueur is more noted than the island itself. It’s flavored with the dried peel of the laraha citrus fruit (similar to oranges), grown on Curacao. Originaly the liqueur has no colour and the mysterious blue one is artificial. The producer just decided to underline its excellence and exotic look.
The history of Blue Curacao liqueur goes back to 19th century, it has a bitter-sweet taste and the best way how to serve it, is cold with a splash of orange juice. For a coctail-lovers we have a special recipe:
Cocktail Blue Curacao
- 2 parts of gin
- a little bit of lemon juice
- 1 part Blue Curacao liqueur
- 3 ice cubes
- pineapple for decoration
Fill a shaker with ice cubes. Add ingredients. Shake and strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
Excursion to the factory and also a liqueur tasting are for free! Of course everyone hopes, that you are going to buy at least a tiny bottle 😉 .
