Home made HUMMUS
Is there anything more typical for israeli kitchen than HUMMUS? This popular spread is healthy, tasty and can be served with PITA bread and salad for breakfast, lunch or even dinner. Or at least in Israel they do. 🙂 Enjoy!
- 1/2 package of chickpeas
- 1 glass of tahini paste
- 4 cloves of garlic
- 2 table spoons of lemon juice
- 1 table spoon of olive oil (or more)
- black pepper (pinch)
- salt (pinch)
- baking soda (pinch)
- red pepper and parsley for the decoration
STEPS: Put the chickpeas into the water the night before cooking. Next day take it out and boil it in a fresh water with salt for one hour. After put the boild chickpeas into the blender, add garlic, tahini paste, lemon juice and olive oil and blend it. Later add salt and pepper according to the taste. If the mixture is still not smooth enough add some water, which left from the cooking of the chickpeas.
Before serving decorate HUMMUS with little bit of olive oil, red pepper and parsley. Serve it cold with PITA bread and salad.
